Lifelong Skills Training Inc
Community Based Education Initiative – 2018 – 2020
Project Goals:
This goal of this project is to create a team of skilled young men with Special Needs in the area of
Masonry and Tiling. The four young men were provided multi-year scholarships starting in 2018 for a
period of 3 years until their successful completion. In addition, equipment to the used for training in
these trades was also donated to the organization.
The project expanded in the scope of the services offered, links made with organizations, institutions
and opportunities for the tutors. At first, they were offering only Masonry and Tiling as skills however
we have been able to expose the young men to garden maintenance, Information Technology and
simple Mechanics and the young ladies to sewing and creating their products for sale.
About Lifelong Skills Training Inc.
The mission of Lifelong Skills Training Inc. is to fulfil the need for an expanded skills programme and an
innovative platform, which will bring skills, creativity and education to those left behind by an
unaccommodating school system.
Lifelong Skills Training Inc opened its doors on the September 10 th 2018 in the auditorium of the Ann Gill
Memorial Methodist Church. We started with twelve students and three programmes: Life Skills
Training, Masonry & Tiling and the Independent Living Programme. All of our students are over sixteen
years of age with different abilities. Three students are from the secondary school system namely
Princess Margret and Daryll Jordan, eight from Ann Hill Secondary and one profound child who was at
home.
Assistance was sought for the students and four scholarships were awarded, the proceeds of which
were used to implement the programmes. These students were enrolled in the Masonry and Tiling
Programme. We were able to sustain the programmes through a combination of scholarships, the
micro-business loans and fundraising activities. We were unable to run the hairdressing programme.
