Barbados Association for Supported Employment
Barbados Association for Supported Employment (BASE) – FirstBASE Project
FirstBASE Project – September 2019
Renovate the interior and exterior of the centre in order to use the space more effectively and
improve efficiency of the operations. Donation of modern updated kitchen equipment.
Project Goals:
Training and equipping physically and intellectually challenged young people for the world of work so
that they can lead fulfilled lives. The existing ten (10) young people will be working in a more
comfortable environment. We will also explore revitalizing our craft programme which is now on hold.
Continued and increased sales at various venues/events, e.g., Health Fairs, Church and other social
events to support the programme funding. More working space, increased production and improved
efficiency. Also, greater recognition/visibility, increased client-base, and by extension increased
earnings.

find it difficult to find work in the open market after leaving special needs schools. FirstBASE
