From strengthening community ties to empowering members through education and governance, Valencia Cumberbatch brings strategic insight and people-first values to the Board of Trustees.
Valencia has been a dedicated member of the Barbados Public Workers’ Cooperative Credit Union Limited for the past 32 years. Her commitment to the Credit Union movement is evident through her extensive volunteer service. Over the years, she has made significant contributions as a member of the Representatives Association and as a member, Secretary and Chairperson of the Credit Committee.
Additionally, she served as Chairperson of the Educational Scholarships and Grants Committee. Professionally, Valencia is employed at Goddard Enterprises Limited, where she has accumulated 27 years of valuable experience within the group. Her leadership qualities have also been demonstrated in her roles with the Goddard’s Sports Club, where she has served as President, Vice President, Assistant Secretary Treasurer and Public Relations Officer.
A strong believer in community involvement, Valencia served as the Treasurer of the St. Lucy Parish Independence Committee and actively serves her community as Secretary and Community Relations Officer of the local Neighbourhood Watch Association.
Academically, she holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Labour and Employment Relations from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. She is a certified Credit Union Director having completed the CUES Governance Leadership Institute I certification through the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.
Valencia is a passionate advocate of the Credit Union philosophy, “People Helping People.” Her desire to serve as a Trustee of Legacy Foundation stems from her commitment to contribute meaningfully to the continued growth and success of the foundation, using her knowledge and experience to support its mission and objectives.
