Wendy Knight-Hunte is a seasoned financial services professional and community leader whose career spans more than four decades in banking, governance and civic engagement. She brings to Legacy Foundation a wealth of expertise in operations management, customer service excellence and organizational leadership, along with a deep commitment to community development and public service.
From 1974 to 2016, Wendy built a distinguished career with the Bank of Nova Scotia, rising through the ranks to serve as Operations Officer. In this role, she oversaw daily branch operations, supervised customer service and teller departments, managed regulatory reporting to the Central Bank of Barbados and ensured strong cash and risk management. Her leadership was instrumental in enhancing service delivery, achieving sales targets and maintaining regulatory compliance. In recognition of her outstanding contribution to the sector, she was awarded the Barbados Service Medal (2022) for over forty years of dedicated service to banking.
Beyond her professional career, Wendy has held significant leadership roles in national organizations and community groups. She is currently an Assistant General Secretary of the BLP and Vice President of the St. Michael South East branch and Chairman of the Deighton Griffith Secondary School. She has also served as Vice President of the Shamrock Credit Union Ltd, Director of the Barbados Reiki Association and Coordinator of Lectors at St.
Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cathedral. She is also a Director of the Kiwanis Club of Barbados
Central.
Wendy’s contributions have been recognized through multiple awards, including two BLP constituency awards for service and the Milroy Reece Award for service to women. She is a Justice of the Peace and holds certifications in customer service, leadership, governance and financial management. Outside of her professional and civic duties, Wendy enjoys singing in her church’s music ministry, gardening, swimming and staying engaged with financial and banking issues.
